SUMMER SPLASH

Tank tops, baby tee’s, cargo jeans and shorts, flip flops, halo-halo, ice craze, ice cream, and cold sodas, do you see them anywhere lately? Oh well better avail yourself soon, coz summer has made its way once again, and if you find yourself craving for a thirst quencher all the time, well worry not, it’s just really the call of the season.

Summer surely is a season of fun and relaxation. And since its time is during school break people make use of it for their adventures and getaways. It is also in this season when anything cold would sell, and honestly upon writing this article, my body tells me that I should really soak myself in the water that’s why I can’t help but imagine myself splashing in the pool.

But as much as we’d love to enjoy the season we also should put into consideration the damages the burning sun could bring to us.
First stop our skin, yes a sun tan looks nice and in during summer, but we should always remember that too much sun exposure could cause skin cancers and other skin diseases like skin asthma, skin allergies, and all other stuffs, so the best thing to do is to never forget to wear sun block. Make sure that you bring it along with you all the time, and also not to get tooo much of sun exposure, you should stop once you get that nice golden tan, besides too much tan could also look unpleasant, so be sure to get just enough.
Another sun sensitive part is the head particularly the hair. Summer is really fun but is not worth sacrificing rebonds, hot oils, cellophanes, and all in just a click, besides our pockets could not afford fun and repairs at the same time, so make sure to protect your crowning glory by putting on hair conditioners, before soaking into the water, and try using umbrella when out in the sun.
Last stop, our eyes, the sun especially during noon could be really so irritating especially for the eyes, it could cause stigmatism, and all other sun inflicted eye sicknesses so to make sure you’ll see clearly and have protected eyes, wear sunglasses, it would not just protect your eyes but could also give you that “in” look this summer.

Okay so now that you’re all geared up, there’s no stopping you from taking the fun. So have a fun filled summer ya’ll.

How far will you go for your belief?

EDUCATION, PHILOSOPHY, POETRY?

Education, Philosophy, and Poetry were packed in a Colloquium, hosted by a poet himself Lau Denmark de Camorra. Honestly I was very much interested in listening with the conversation of LD and Mr. Fajarillo, famously known as Sir Jay. The discussion was going smoothly when suddenly Maam Virgie held the microphone and asked the man of philosophy of his own philosophy in life, and it’s funny how he was not able to provide us with an answer knowing that he himself knows so much about other people’s philosophy, and surprisingly he doesn’t or maybe he has forgotten his own belief. Well I have nothing against the speaker honestly, I even find him smart and genuine actually. But I strongly believe that man is never a man without a philosophy in life. Because a belief in life is what a man needs to help him surpass everything that will come along his journey.

Just the way a teacher could survive his/her teaching world. Well I am pretty sure it doesn’t take a teacher to know how hard it is to become one, only they are better in telling it. And this exactly was what Mrs. Luna shared to us. She couldn’t help but tell us how it is to become a mother, and a teacher to everyone. And upon hearing her stories I couldn’t help but admire teachers, Because they not only share with us their knowledge, but they are also willing to give us their life. So to all the teachers, I thank and salute you all for continuously loving and educating us.

A sharing of a teacher’s life to his students is a proof that No man is an island, therefore man is a social being, but this is not quite true for Mr LD”s best friend and co-writer. His way of surviving boredom and insanity is through poem writing. He said that most of his poems talks about himself, and he uses these compositions to inspire others. Poems are surely one form of expression, which is why they are called a reflection of the writer. I haven’t read any of the speaker’s writings yet, and since he left me curious, maybe il find time to read some of his poems one of this days.

Well the three speakers are of different tracks but one thing is for sure. They chose to be there because they firmly stand in what they believe in.

LIFE FOR OTHERS

An eight year practitioner of medicine talked about her experiences at the AUFMC, and gave us a brief view on how it is to live and give life to others. The speaker was a med tech by profession. And she practically and literally work on other people’s feces, urine, blood and all other stuffs that ordinary people would dare not touch. She said that her job is not that easy considering that it could put her in the risks of acquiring certain diseases upon making a single mistake like being torn by a needle while on the job.
She also told us how hard it is to not experience holidays like Xmas, and go on duty instead. Well it sure is not hard to be in her shoes especially that she is a mother, but still she chose to stay, come to think of it she even lasted for years.

5 in 1

ENATERTAINMENT, FASHION, HEALTHA ND BEAUTY, SPORTS, AND BUSINESS

What do these things have in common? Oh well they dominate the world of youth today, I must say.
For a person to become effective in his career, one must posses’ passion and dedication with his/her chosen field.

Upon listening to him, I observed that Pong Mangio (the speaker for entertainment) is naturally funny and witty, which perhaps is the reason why he was able to enter the world of entertainment particularly theater acting. Pong mentioned in his brief talk that he loves meeting and working with different people.
Enjoyment is his key to surviving the adventurous world of entertainment.

While this could be true, I believe health, beauty, and fashion is needed for an entertainer to surpass the frying eyes of the viewers.
And this is where Ms Isa Minelle Gozun came in and in her brief talk she mentioned that fashion could make or break a person’s style. And that fashion is not simply a matter of following the latest trends rather it is knowing what fits one’s body, style, personality and feeling totally comfortable about it.

Just the way Mrs Angela Boyd Mandap a former Ms University emphasized that beauty is matter of perspective. It is a matter of right projection, and it is knowing and understanding oneself inside-out. She also mentioned that physical features do not really matter as long as a person carries him/herself well.

Beauty is very essential for people especially at this point where everything is possible provided that one has the means. Most of the time people get the wrong notion of sacrificing one’s health to achieve the body and beauty they desire. This is why a sport active P.E teacher was also invited to entice the listeners to engage into sports. She explained that sports is not only good for one’s health but is also a big help in achieving a balance and well fit body. And this gave way for her to introduce to us “tai-chi” a breathing exercise which is very beneficial to the body.

Talking about beneficial, two businessmen were invited as well to provide us a brief view on how it is to run a business. The speakers did not really explain everything in details but we have enjoyed the discussion nonetheless. The two are managing family business. One of them stressed out that to come up with a successful business, everything should always start from a person’s interests.

I think the colloquium all boils down to a realization that to become successful in whatever endeavor, the motivation to engage into something must always be a combination of the heart and the mind. It is simply following what your heart desires yet with the wise handling of the mind.

what is freedom anyway?

“Is there such thing as Campus Journalism?” one of the speakers said as he made he’s opening remark at the recently held senior colloquium. And as I was there seated, I realized that there is really a problem not just with the College paper but with the freedom in the University itself.
So I would like to take this opportunity to speak my mind, I am a communication student after all, so I should be able to express my thoughts as freely as possible. The student lacks interest in reading the paper, because they find no sense in it. I mean the College paper in many ways should stand as the Students voice. But sadly, it’s not the way I see it. So, who is really to be blamed on this? Is it the students, the publication, or the administration??
Okay, First things first, who and why does this College papers exists anyway? Obviously we the students pay for these things, so we have all the right to express our thoughts be it an ordinary student or a member of the paper. And let me just defend the students from their (writers) observations of us not reading the paper, well who would want to read the common things, I mean we are all well aware of the things they write about, we want to read of something different and if they cant provide us with that then we surely have plenty of works to do than to read the paper. So what should they really write about anyway? Well we simply want to be educate of the things that we think are worth the space of that paper.
As always said, freedom is never freedom without responsibility. so if this people chose to be in the college paper, they must do what is expected of them, be it from the students or from the administration. i hope to experience some changes the soonest.

STILL, WE RISE!

“Congratulations, you did a great job, that was the best vj hunt ever produced at auf, im so proud of you” a warm text from Maam Virgie just right after the program.
Wow, to hear such complement really pays off. I mean nothing’s more rewarding than to hear appreciation from the people you offered your work with.
The freshly held VJ hunt was taken cared by the abmc3, the witty and talented batch in which I proudly belong. We all took part and made it possible to happen. The preparation was really time and energy consuming, but surely made a great memory to all of us.
I remember going to high schools in San. Fernando all the way from Angeles to present an invitation to the administration only to get answers like” sorry the chairperson is not around, you could go back tomorrow for your concerns” or “we’ll see if their schedule could provide for it”, and then we will end up saying “yes Maam, we understand your concerns as well.” And then we’ll have to go back to Auf to proceed with our class.
But there was this one time that we went back to the schools to convince them for the last time, it took us so much time that we realized we’ll be very late for our class however we try it, so we decided to just spend the day over to the swimming pool,.haha. Yes, you have read it right, swimming pool. After a day of talking and running school after school under the heat of the burning sun, whatever you may call it, we all agreed to take time to relax, since there’s nothing left for us to do. We spent the day over at Maryan’s place, because we thought that to unwind rather than to stress ourselves more, is the solution. Thank God it worked, we had fun and left for a while our worries.
Also during the making of the vj hunt, there are uncontrolled temper which sometimes, some of my classmates fail to understand which ends up with an argument, good thing we are left calm that we are able to prevent them in going deeper.
Well there are really so much stories to tell, but I will no longer state them I will just leave you this instead,VJ hunt truly made its mark in my life. It brought me so many lessons. I’ve learned what I was supposed to learn academically, I have experienced tough times and triumph as well.
Also VJ hunt will serve as a proof to all those mockers who have so much guts to underestimate us, when the truth is they know we the ABMC3 can do better. Well we are even the best actually.

stand up

Mistakes are painful, but they are the only way to make you realize who you really are, sad but true. Mistakes could either make or break a person. And so far the only thing I am holding on to is that life is never perfect, and so are we. The only thing we could do is learn from our mistakes and eventually stand up.
I have never been this tough, until I realized that, we all have to stand up in whatever way possible to be able to achieve our contentment in life.
There are some days when I feel like running away from all the things that suppresses me. You know, like going to a place where no one knows me, no one would tell me of what is wrong from what is right, not worry about anything and I could just do whatever. But how ever I wish to do this my sanity tells me that it’s not possible and that I should not do it because it won’t do me any good as well.
Yes, Life is really cruel that it leaves us with no choice but to just take a risk, and make mistakes. But what we don’t realize is that it offers us another option which is to stand up from that mistake, and eventually be happy with the lesson it gave us.
Let’s not be afraid to commit mistakes because for sure they are given to us for a very beautiful reason, and that is to make a better us.
